Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Edu Gasper, has revealed that the club intended to extend Thomas Partey’s contract by four years, but the player expressed a desire for a new chapter beyond the Emirates Stadium. The 30-year-old defensive midfielder, a pivotal figure since his €50 million transfer from Atletico Madrid in October 2020, is now poised to leave in January.
Juventus has emerged as a potential destination for Partey, engaging actively in talks with the Ghanaian midfielder. The Serie A giants aim to strengthen their midfield during the winter transfer window, identifying Partey as a suitable addition to their roster.
Partey’s journey at Arsenal saw him become integral to Mikel Arteta’s squad, particularly in the previous season when the team contended for the league title. However, this season has seen a shift in dynamics, with Declan Rice assuming a central role, and Partey limited to four league appearances due to injuries.
