In a surprising twist, Mikel Arteta might displace Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal, with the club allegedly outpacing Manchester United and Manchester City in their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma.
Despite Gabriel Martinelli’s commendable performance this season, with six goals and three assists in 25 games, Arteta appears eager to strengthen the team by bringing in a new winger. Arteta believes there’s a deficiency on the left wing, signaling a potential snub for the 22-year-old Brazilian.
Reports from Spain’s Fichajes suggest that Arsenal is actively chasing Brighton’s standout player, Kaoru Mitoma. The North London team is said to have outpaced both Manchester United and City in the race for the Japanese international.
Mitoma’s outstanding performances since breaking into Brighton’s starting lineup in November 2022 have impressed Arsenal. While he seems destined for a move to a “Big Six” club, he won’t be switching clubs during the January transfer window, as Brighton is unwilling to part ways with a key player midway through the season.
Brighton, known for being strategic in player sales, will only negotiate deals that align with their demands. As a result, Arsenal may have to wait until the summer to secure the 26-year-old forward. Earlier reports indicate Brighton’s asking price for Mitoma is ÂŁ70 million.
