He raised doubts about their ability to secure the title due to perceived shortcomings in creativity and confidence. Neville observed the subdued reaction from Arsenal players after their recent win against Liverpool, suggesting it hinted at a waning belief in their championship chances.
Neville aligned with former Arsenal player Gael Clichy’s view on Arsenal needing to be more clinical, particularly in their attacking play. He juxtaposed Arsenal’s performance with Liverpool’s, noting the latter’s sharpness in front of goal. Despite an initially positive outlook on Arsenal’s title hopes, Neville noted what he saw as immature celebrations from the team after the Liverpool victory, dampened by an own goal just before halftime.
While Arsenal managed to extend their lead against Liverpool, defensive errors and a red card for Ibrahima Konate marred their victory. Neville, alongside pundit Jamie Carragher, criticized Arsenal’s celebrations, questioning their killer instinct during crucial moments.
