Initially, Arsenal aimed to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. However, their plans were disrupted when Sesko extended his contract with the Bundesliga club on Wednesday.

Under Mikel Arteta’s guidance, Arsenal are now considering various alternatives. According to the Evening Standard, one option is Feyenoord’s striker Santiago Gimenez. Despite the disappointment with Sesko, Arsenal are willing to sell Gabriel Jesus if a suitable offer comes in, as reported by The Athletic.

This sale could finance the acquisition of a player like Gimenez, who was valued between €40-60 million when Chelsea and Real Madrid showed interest in him earlier this year.

Gimenez was previously seen as a strong alternative for Real Madrid in case they couldn’t secure Mbappe.

Data analytics experts, SciSports, even suggested that Gimenez might be a better fit than the former PSG star. While Gimenez is more of a poacher compared to Mbappe, this trait matches Arsenal’s need for increased attacking power.

However, SciSports also pointed out that Gimenez is notably less strong than Kai Havertz.

Regarding playing style, Gimenez would fit well at Arsenal. SciSports assigned him a Club Fit score of 85 for Real Madrid and 80 for Arsenal. The 23-year-old is viewed as having great potential for growth under Arteta and is considered a good match for Arsenal’s playing style and formation.

Despite concerns about limited playing time, especially given Havertz’s current form, Gimenez’s overall suitability and potential for development make him a viable option for Arsenal.
