According to CBS journalist James Benge, Arsenal have achieved at least 1 expected goal from open play in only three of their 15 league matches this season, placing them 13th in the league for open-play expected goals. The team’s attacking unit, including Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, is yet to score in the league despite playing nearly 400 combined minutes.

In contrast, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard have managed 11 goals collectively, just four more than the team’s defenders.

Following the Fulham game, Arteta expressed frustration over the team’s narrow misses, particularly Martinelli’s disallowed goal due to a marginal offside decision. “We dominated from start to finish and conceded from just one shot. The team’s desire to win was exceptional, but in this league, small margins make the difference,” Arteta commented.

Joao Pedro Linked as a Key Target

Reports from Spain suggest Arsenal are keen on signing Brighton’s Brazilian forward Joao Pedro. The 23-year-old has impressed at the AMEX Stadium, scoring four goals and providing three assists in nine league appearances this season. Brighton content creator Ryan Adsett described him as “magic,” underscoring the striker’s rising profile.

Pedro is considered a perfect fit for Arteta’s tactical setup, with the manager reportedly viewing him as a critical piece to enhance the squad’s attacking depth. Arsenal have reportedly made an initial bid of €55-65 million (£45m-£54m) for the talented striker.
