Erling Haaland and Pep Guardiola may face uncertain futures at Manchester City, with reports suggesting significant unrest within the club. Haaland, the prolific Norwegian striker, is reportedly accelerating negotiations with Barcelona, seeking an exit from the Premier League champions.
This development comes amidst Man City’s worst run under Guardiola, having won only one of their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Despite starting the season strongly, they now sit seventh in the Premier League, just five points above Manchester United, who recently defeated them 2-1 in the Manchester derby.
Haaland, who has netted 18 goals in 24 appearances this season, is reportedly growing disillusioned with City’s current project. Although Guardiola recently extended his contract, reports claim that Haaland has become increasingly frustrated with the manager, pushing for a move to Barcelona.
The striker is said to be “tired of the current situation” at City, which includes the team’s poor form, the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play investigation, and uncertainty surrounding the squad’s future. Haaland has reportedly rejected all extension offers from the club and is actively exploring new opportunities.
Barcelona remains a preferred destination for the 24-year-old. With Real Madrid ruled out due to the presence of Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappé, Haaland is keen on a move to Camp Nou, aiming to become their marquee signing by 2025.
Talks with Barcelona figures, including Joan Laporta and Deco, have reportedly resumed as Haaland prepares for a possible transfer.
In a separate development, Paul Pogba has been linked with a potential move to Manchester City. Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha suggests such a transfer could force United to consider re-signing the Frenchman. Saha acknowledged the rivalry between the two Manchester clubs and expressed doubts about the move’s alignment with Pogba’s loyalty to United.
However, he recognized the opportunity it might present for Pogba to revive his career and enhance his chances of returning to the France squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Saha highlighted Pogba’s quality as a playmaker, emphasizing his ability to provide goals and assists. While he hopes the rumors remain unfounded, Saha believes the speculation might prompt Manchester United to reconsider bringing Pogba back into their fold.
