Arsenal have firmly decided to keep Belgian winger Leandro Trossard, turning down a €35 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad near the closure of the Saudi transfer window.
Despite the financial appeal, the Gunners are committed to retaining Trossard as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s team.
The Saudi club’s proposal reportedly included a €5 million loan fee for the 2023/24 season, with a mandatory purchase clause of €20–25 million for summer 2025. However, Arsenal swiftly rejected the informal offer, emphasizing their dedication to retaining crucial players amid their competitive ambitions.
According to football insiders Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, the bid surfaced on the final Sunday of the Saudi transfer window. Although the deal could have totaled €30 million (£25.3 million), Arsenal deemed it inadequate, stressing Trossard’s vital role within the squad.
Since joining Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023, Trossard has become an essential team member, registering 31 goal contributions in 71 appearances.
His adaptability across attacking and midfield roles has made him indispensable. Arteta values his technical skill, creativity, and leadership qualities—attributes that are not easily replaceable.
Arsenal’s decision to reject Al-Ittihad’s offer underscores their broader transfer strategy.
