Manchester United are reportedly evaluating the possibility of signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli during the January transfer window. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the 23-year-old Georgian winger has caught the attention of the Red Devils, who are carefully observing his circumstances at the Italian club.
Although United are not actively pursuing Kvaratskhelia at this time, they could consider making an approach if he becomes available. However, they face stiff competition, as Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also said to be interested in the talented forward.
Since his arrival at Napoli from Rubin Kazan in the summer of 2022, Kvaratskhelia has emerged as one of Europeβs most impressive attackers. In 107 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A side, he has delivered 30 goals and 29 assists. This season, he has already recorded five goals and three assists in 19 games, bringing his career totals to 52 goals and 53 assists, according to Transfermarkt.
Kvaratskhelia is under contract with Napoli until 2027, but the lack of progress on a potential extension has attracted the attention of top European clubs. The uncertainty surrounding his future has only fueled speculation about a possible transfer.
A move for Kvaratskhelia would raise questions about Manchester Unitedβs current options on the left wing, where Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho already feature prominently. While these players, along with Kvaratskhelia, are capable of operating in various attacking roles, their primary position is the same, potentially creating competition for playing time.
Such a transfer might become more logical if United were to lose one of their key attackers. Recent reports suggest Marcus Rashford’s future at Old Trafford is uncertain, with clubs like AC Milan and Juventus showing interest. If Rashford were to depart, Kvaratskhelia could be viewed as a fitting replacement to maintain the team’s attacking strength and depth.
However, any move for Kvaratskhelia would likely require significant financial resources due to his contract duration and Napoliβs valuation. Additionally, the involvement of other top European clubs could make negotiations more challenging.
As the January transfer window approaches, Manchester United’s strategy regarding their attacking options will be closely scrutinized. The situation with Kvaratskhelia remains one to monitor, as his potential availability could ignite a competitive race among Europe’s top clubs.
