Admission into Post-HND B.Tech Programme at SSLT, University of Port Harcourt
Introduction
The School of Science Laboratory Technology (SSLT) at the University of Port Harcourt invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its two-year Post-HND to B.Tech degree programme for the 2023/2024 academic session. This programme is designed for individuals who have completed a Higher National Diploma (HND), Pass Degree, or Third-Class Degree in relevant fields and wish to advance their academic qualifications.
Programme Objective
The primary goal of this programme is to provide a solid university training platform for graduates in Science, Engineering, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Agriculture, and Science Laboratory Technology (B.Tech) with NISLT Professional Certification. The programme leads to the award of a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in various science laboratory options, including Biology/Biotechnology, Biochemistry/Chemistry Technology, Biomedical Technology, Geology/Mining Technology, Industrial Chemistry/Petrochemical Technology, Microbiology Technology, Physics with Electronics Technology, and Physics with Production Technology.
Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission into this programme must meet specific eligibility criteria. Applicants should have at least a Pass in Final Diploma (FD) NISLT or a Lower Credit in Higher National Diploma (HND). Additionally, a Pass or Third-Class Degree in related fields from recognized institutions such as Monotechnics, Polytechnics, or Universities is acceptable. Furthermore, candidates must have credit-level passes in subjects like English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, and Further Mathematics in not more than two sittings from recognized examination bodies like GCE, SSCE, WASC, NECO, NABTEC, and City & Guilds.
Duration of Programme
The Post-HND to B.Tech degree programme has a minimum duration of two academic calendar years. Each academic calendar year consists of three terms, with classes conducted in the evenings and on weekends. This structure allows working professionals and other interested candidates to conveniently balance their studies with other commitments.
Application Process
Prospective applicants must obtain the application forms from the Post-HND Office, located at the SSLT Administrative Building before Uniport Bottling Plant, University Park, University of Port Harcourt. A non-refundable application fee of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) is required, payable through Remita. Applicants can make their payments via the Remita platform by selecting the appropriate payment category, filling in their details, and either proceeding to a bank for payment using the generated RRR number or making an online payment directly on the Remita platform.
Submission of Application Forms
After completing the application form, candidates must attach two recent passport-sized photographs and the original receipt of payment. These documents should be submitted to the Coordinator, Post-HND Office, at the SSLT Administrative Building before Uniport Bottling Plant, University Park, University of Port Harcourt, Choba.
Deadline for Application
