Arsenal are reportedly negotiating a move to sign ‘one of the world’s top wingers’ as an alternative to Nico Williams.

Arsenal is reportedly in negotiations to land one of the world’s leading wingers as a potential alternative to Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. According to circulating reports, the North London club is actively working on a deal to bring in a top-class winger, with AC Milan star Rafael Leao emerging as a serious candidate.

Former Arsenal scout Mick Brown revealed that the Gunners are considering a move for Leao, especially if Gabriel Martinelli leaves the club during the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal’s recent struggles to secure silverware, having gone five consecutive seasons without a trophy, have intensified the pressure on manager Mikel Arteta to deliver success. To strengthen their chances, significant squad upgrades are expected this summer.

Sources from GIVEMESPORT indicate that new sporting director Andrea Berta is set to oversee a busy transfer window, with Arsenal reportedly preparing to spend up to £300 million to bolster their squad.

Strengthening their attack remains a top priority, as inconsistent displays from forwards like Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have left the team lacking firepower.

Rafael Leao has been identified as a key target to address this issue. Highly regarded as one of the finest wingers in football, Leao’s pace, directness, and flair make him a perfect fit for Arteta’s tactical plans. In a conversation with Football Insider, Brown confirmed Arsenal’s long-standing interest in the Portuguese international.

He explained that Leao’s ability to take on defenders, stretch defenses, and contribute decisively in attack is precisely what Arsenal has been missing, aside from Bukayo Saka, in the final third.

Leao has delivered impressive numbers this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 50 appearances for AC Milan across all competitions. His consistent performances have made him a crucial figure for both club and country, earning 39 caps and scoring five times for the Portugal national team.

However, prying him away from Milan won’t be easy. The Italian club has reportedly set a hefty €100 million (£83 million) price tag on their star winger. This valuation might be steep for Arsenal, especially with several other positions requiring reinforcement.

To complicate matters, other major clubs, including Liverpool and Barcelona, are also eyeing Leao, with Liverpool viewing him as a possible replacement for Luis Diaz.

Meanwhile, Arsenal continues to pursue Nico Williams, with Andrea Berta making that transfer a top priority this summer.
