SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE: Arsenal are edging closer to securing the signing of highly-rated forward Benjamin Sesko, with personal terms already agreed between the player and the club.

The prolific striker, who had also received a tempting offer from Liverpool, has reportedly turned it down in favour of a move to North London, making him potentially Mikel Arteta’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window.

According to reports from Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Arsenal have entered advanced discussions with RB Leipzig over a deal for the Slovenian international.

The club’s sporting director Andrea Berta has been actively communicating with his Leipzig counterpart, Marcel Schafer, as the Gunners push to finalise the move. Arteta is believed to be a long-time admirer of Sesko’s qualities and views him as a valuable addition to the squad.

Sesko, 21, has a release clause set at €80 million, although it remains uncertain if Arsenal intend to trigger it once the window officially opens. The towering striker, standing at 6ft 5in, was on Arsenal’s radar last summer but chose to remain in Germany, where he extended his contract with Leipzig.

This season, Sesko has been in impressive form, scoring 21 goals and providing six assists in 45 matches, following a campaign where he netted 18 goals and registered two assists.

Renowned for his strength in aerial battles and ability to score with headers, Sesko also possesses solid technical skills and is an accomplished dribbler. His dynamic presence and versatility would offer Arsenal another dimension in attack as they continue their quest to win their first Premier League title since 2004.

Notably, Sesko ranked among the Bundesliga’s fastest and most hard-working players this season, finishing 7th for total sprints with 875. His tireless work rate and physical attributes could make him a perfect fit for the demands of English football and Arteta’s high-intensity style.

Although Sesko might be open to a summer departure, sources suggest he would seek assurances regarding his role in the starting XI before committing to a move. Previously, he hesitated over joining Arsenal due to concerns about being second-choice to Kai Havertz. At the time, the Gunners couldn’t guarantee him a regular starting spot.
