Arsenal are reportedly among several clubs interested in securing the services of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to reputable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old attacker is nearing the final year of his current contract with Brentford, making a potential transfer increasingly likely. It is believed that the Bees would be open to parting with the Cameroon international for a fee in the region of £50 million.
Primarily a right winger, Mbeumo boasts the ability to operate effectively across any position within a front three. This positional versatility is one of the key attributes attracting Arsenal, as it would provide manager Mikel Arteta with greater tactical options in attack.
In particular, it could ease the burden on Bukayo Saka by offering him opportunities to rest or even play in a more central role—something Arsenal’s current squad options do not consistently allow for.
Despite Arsenal’s genuine interest, Newcastle United appear to be in a stronger position to land the Brentford star. Unlike Arsenal, where Mbeumo would face stiff competition for regular minutes behind the ever-present Saka, Newcastle can offer a clear path to first-team football.
He would likely slot directly into the Magpies’ starting lineup as their primary right winger, filling a gap in Eddie Howe’s squad.
Another significant factor working in Newcastle’s favour is their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The prospect of European football at the highest level, combined with the chance to be part of one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking trios alongside Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak, makes the St. James’ Park project an appealing proposition for Mbeumo. Such an attack would provide blistering pace, sharp movement, and reliable finishing — qualities Newcastle need to enhance their competitiveness both domestically and in Europe.
For Arsenal, the focus remains on strengthening the squad’s depth and tactical flexibility, rather than securing automatic starters. Mbeumo would add valuable cover and competition but might struggle to achieve regular playing time given Saka’s undroppable status under Arteta.
Nevertheless, with his contract nearing its conclusion and Brentford willing to negotiate a sale, Mbeumo remains a player to keep an eye on this summer. If Arsenal fail to secure his signature, it may ultimately be because the player prefers immediate, guaranteed first-team opportunities at an ambitious club like Newcastle.
