Malik Tillman has openly admitted that Arsenal is the one Premier League side he dreams of representing, revealing his admiration for the club’s style of play and the influence of head coach Mikel Arteta.
The attacking midfielder, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, shared his thoughts during an interview with Bleacher Report Football. Although he explained that he does not support any English team in particular, he made it clear that Arsenal stands out as the club he would most like to join if given the opportunity.
Tillman pointed to Arsenal’s modern playing philosophy as a major attraction. He praised Arteta’s tactical system, describing it as well-structured, exciting, and perfectly suited to his own abilities.
According to the United States international, the way Arsenal build attacks, press opponents, and maintain possession makes them one of the most appealing teams to watch in Europe today. He also mentioned that a former teammate who strongly supports Arsenal helped spark his interest in the North London side.
Arsenal have evolved into consistent title contenders in recent seasons under Arteta’s leadership. Their squad depth and tactical flexibility have allowed them to compete strongly across multiple competitions. This season, they remain in the race for major honours domestically and in Europe, reinforcing their reputation as one of the continent’s elite teams.
Tillman also addressed criticism surrounding Arsenal’s playing style, particularly claims that they rely heavily on set-piece goals. He defended the team, noting that scoring from dead-ball situations is a legitimate and valuable strength.
He further explained that Arsenal display a different tactical approach in European matches, showing more variation and adaptability depending on the opponent.
Born in Germany, Tillman developed through the youth system at Bayern Munich before gaining valuable experience on loan spells in Scotland and the Netherlands. His standout performances in the Eredivisie earned him a big-money move to Leverkusen, where he has shown flashes of quality despite inconsistent output.
However, any potential move to Arsenal remains uncertain. Arteta already has several creative midfield options, including captain Martin Ødegaard, which could limit the club’s urgency to pursue another attacking midfielder in the near future.
