Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has reportedly urged the club’s management to strengthen the team by signing a player from the Spanish league.
Recent reports suggest Barcelona is prioritizing improvements to their squad, particularly focusing on reinforcing the defensive line to enhance overall team performance.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, while Flick is satisfied with the team’s recent results, he believes the squad lacks sufficient depth in key areas, especially in defense.
To address this issue, the German coach has proposed the signing of Andrei Ratiu, a standout defender from Rayo Vallecano, who has been on Barcelona’s radar for months.
Flick sees Ratiu as an ideal candidate to support Jules Kounde, offering the latter much-needed rest and improving the team’s defensive stability.
Ratiu has been a key player for Rayo Vallecano this season, appearing in 11 matches, scoring one goal, and providing one assist.
His ability to adapt and play as a winger in certain situations adds a level of versatility that Flick highly values. This flexibility makes Ratiu a desirable addition to Barcelona’s squad, as it aligns with Flick’s tactical vision for the team.
The report also highlights that Ratiu’s contract includes a release clause valued at 28 million euros. However, Rayo Vallecano’s ongoing financial difficulties may compel them to accept a lower transfer fee during the upcoming winter transfer window. It is estimated that Barcelona could secure the defender for around 25 million euros in January.
The potential acquisition of Ratiu would not only bolster Barcelona’s defensive options but also enhance their ability to rotate players, maintaining squad fitness and performance throughout the season.
Flick’s push for this transfer underscores his commitment to building a balanced and competitive team capable of achieving success across all competitions.
