FC Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, may have found the solution to the club’s current squad issues, but it could come at the cost of losing a talented youth player. It appears that Deco has identified the perfect candidate to fill this gap—Luiz Henrique, a 23-year-old winger from Botafogo.
Luiz Henrique, who previously had an unremarkable stint at Betis, has been performing exceptionally well at Botafogo. His standout performances helped his team secure the Copa Libertadores, with Luiz playing a pivotal role in the final match, scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 3-1 victory.
This season, he has scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists, which has earned him a call-up to the Brazilian national team. Deco believes that Luiz Henrique could be the ideal player to strengthen Barcelona’s attacking options.
However, this potential arrival would necessitate the departure of a current player, and the one most likely to be affected is Ansu Fati.
The Spanish forward has struggled to live up to expectations under Hansi Flick’s management, mainly due to persistent injuries and a lack of confidence from the coach.
Fati has yet to fully recover his form since joining Barcelona and has not been part of Flick’s plans for the upcoming season. Given these circumstances, the club is now open to negotiating his departure.
While Fati’s departure would not significantly affect the team’s performance on the field, it would still be a significant loss emotionally, as he was once considered the club’s future star.
