Press reports have disclosed the Barcelona player likely to be affected by Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo’s return to the first-team lineup.
Barcelona recently secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund, boosting their points total to 15 and placing them second in the Champions League standings.
According to the Catalan newspaper El Nacional, Araujo’s reintegration into the squad will compel Barcelona coach Hansi Flick to reshuffle his defensive lineup.
The report suggests that Flick has chosen to bench young defender Pau Coparsi upon Araujo’s return, while keeping Inigo Martinez in the starting XI.
Despite Flick’s admiration for Coparsi’s potential, the young defender has been under scrutiny due to a series of costly mistakes in recent matches. These defensive lapses have contributed to Barcelona conceding crucial goals, prompting Flick to reconsider his defensive setup.
The report further speculates that Coparsi might not be the only player affected. If Flick opts to deploy Araujo as a right-back, even seasoned defender Jules Kounde could face exclusion from the starting lineup.
Overall, Araujo’s return is expected to reshape Barcelona’s defense as Flick seeks a more stable and experienced backline to enhance the team’s competitiveness in upcoming fixtures.
