Barcelona has adopted a stricter policy regarding players who leave the club for better financial deals, making it challenging for them to return.
This approach became evident when the club rejected the possibility of re-signing a young player who departed in pursuit of a more lucrative contract.
Despite his impressive performances in the German league, the player’s hope of returning to Camp Nou appears unrealistic due to the current management’s stance.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Xavi Simons, a rising star in European football, has been excelling at RB Leipzig while on loan from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). His standout displays in the German league have drawn widespread attention.
Despite his success, Simons has not concealed his desire to return to Barcelona, where he developed as a youth player before leaving to seek greater playing time and a more attractive financial package. However, with Joan Laporta as Barcelona’s president, such a return seems nearly impossible.
Last summer, Simons was reportedly linked with a return to Barcelona due to his exceptional talent and ability to influence games from midfield, qualities that matched the club’s tactical needs.
However, the Camp Nou management responded decisively, stating, “The door is closed.” Under Laporta’s leadership, Barcelona maintains a firm policy: players who leave for better financial offers will not be welcomed back.
Simons has expressed admiration for Barcelona’s current project and enthusiasm about the prospect of playing alongside rising stars such as Pedri, Balde, and Lamine Yamal.
He has also reportedly regretted his earlier decision to leave for PSG, acknowledging that it may have jeopardized his chances of rejoining the Catalan club. However, Laporta’s unwavering policy on loyalty and commitment leaves little room for reconsideration.
This policy underscores Laporta’s belief that players who prioritize money over allegiance to Barcelona do not deserve a second chance. Despite Simons’ clear interest and potential value to the team, the club remains committed to its principles, emphasizing long-term loyalty over individual talent.
