Among the leading candidates is Michel Sánchez, Girona’s head coach. Sánchez turned down multiple offers last summer to remain with Girona and lead the team in the Champions League.
Despite a challenging transfer window that disrupted his squad, Sánchez’s efforts have kept Girona in eighth place, close to qualifying for European competitions. His attacking football style aligns well with Barcelona’s traditional philosophy, making him a strong contender.
Another potential successor is Imanol Alguacil of Real Sociedad. Alguacil initially struggled this season but successfully turned his team’s fortunes around.
