Liverpool Football Club is reportedly engaged in internal discussions about their primary transfer targets as they gear up for the upcoming summer transfer window. According to sources cited by CaughtOffside, the club remains keen on strengthening its midfield, even though it already possesses a strong roster in that area.
Despite boasting a competitive midfield lineup, Liverpool’s past transfer activity suggests they are still looking to add depth and quality.
They previously attempted to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi but were unsuccessful in securing the Spanish midfielder. Now, the club is shifting its focus to other potential targets who could bring similar attributes to the squad.
Liverpool Eyeing Frenkie de Jong and Angelo Stiller
One of the most notable names linked with a move to Anfield is Barcelona’s Dutch international, Frenkie de Jong. The 26-year-old is widely regarded as a top-class midfielder, but a transfer could prove challenging due to his high wage demands.
Reports suggest Barcelona is willing to sell him for around €35 million, but his hefty salary at Camp Nou has previously deterred Liverpool and other interested clubs from making a firm offer.
Another player on Liverpool’s radar is Angelo Stiller, a 23-year-old midfielder currently impressing in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.
