Arsenal is reportedly preparing a major financial package to lure one of the world’s top strikers, Viktor Gyokeres, with an enticing offer of £300,000 per week.
The club is keen to strengthen its attacking lineup after a season where their goal-scoring ability, particularly in critical moments, proved lacking. Injuries to key forwards like Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus left Mikel Arteta’s side struggling for consistency up front.
With Eddie Nketiah having left the Emirates the previous summer, Arsenal is eager to fill the void by signing a natural striker. Portuguese outlet A Bola, relayed by Sport Witness, claims that the club’s offer to Gyokeres would see him earn around £7 million annually after tax, equivalent to a net £135,000 weekly wage.
Meanwhile, Liverpool has finalized their first signing of the summer transfer window, reaching an agreement for Bayer Leverkusen’s standout right-back Jeremie Frimpong.
The Dutch defender is set to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the 2024-25 season. Discussions between Liverpool and Leverkusen have reportedly advanced, focusing on how to structure Frimpong’s €35 million (£29m) release clause. The 24-year-old full-back, keen on the move, is expected to sign a five-year contract.
In addition to Frimpong, Liverpool had previously considered AS Monaco’s Vanderson as another right-back option. New manager Arne Slot appears to favor Frimpong, having excluded Alexander-Arnold from the starting eleven against Arsenal in favor of Conor Bradley, whom he even compared to PSG’s Achraf Hakimi.
Elsewhere, Liverpool has joined Manchester City and Arsenal in a transfer race for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo. The Brazilian attacker has drawn interest from several Premier League clubs, though he has yet to decide on his future. Reports from TBRFootball indicate that Liverpool has begun initial talks with Rodrygo’s representatives ahead of a potential summer move.
Rodrygo’s situation may hinge on the managerial future at Real Madrid, with former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso rumored to be a leading candidate to succeed Carlo Ancelotti. The 24-year-old forward is said to be waiting to learn his role in the new regime before deciding on a transfer.
Liverpool, however, remains optimistic, receiving positive signals about Rodrygo’s openness to a Premier League switch. His valuation stands at €100 million (£85m), a figure similar to what Liverpool paid for Darwin Nunez in 2022. With Nunez potentially departing for Saudi Arabia, funds from that sale might be reinvested in securing Rodrygo.
