Though the chase for Gyokeres was hot, Arsenal’s attention has now veered toward Benjamin Sesko, the promising striker at RB Leipzig, signaling a change of strategy in North London.
Diario Sport reports Arsenal are inching closer to wrapping up a deal for Sesko that would cost them about 75 million euros (£64.4 million) plus potential bonuses.
Initially, Arteta’s camp had a verbal understanding to snap up Gyokeres, but talks turned into a nightmare because Sporting president Federico Varandas made negotiations drag on endlessly.
Spanish outlets claimed Gyokeres was available for around 60 million euros, but honestly, that figure doesn’t add up—if he was that cheap, Arsenal wouldn’t have hesitated to seal the deal instead of coughing up even more for Sesko.
With Arsenal backing off Gyokeres and focusing all energy on Sesko, United suddenly find themselves with a cleaner shot to reunite the Swedish striker with Amorim at Old Trafford, though they’ll still have to cough up around 80 million euros (£68.3 million) as reported by O Jogo.
