Arsenal have reportedly identified five major transfer targets ahead of the summer window as sporting director Andrea Berta explores ways to further strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The North London club are enjoying an outstanding season, currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table with a six-point lead over their closest challengers.
Their strong domestic form has been matched in Europe, where they won all eight of their Champions League league-phase fixtures to progress comfortably into the knockout rounds. They also secured a place in the League Cup final after defeating Chelsea and remain active contenders in the FA Cup.
Last summer, Arsenal spent more than £250 million on new signings in an effort to finally secure the league title after finishing as runners-up for three consecutive seasons. However, reports suggest the club is already planning another round of investment once the next transfer window opens.
According to sources, Berta’s shortlist includes several young and promising players. One of them is Lille and France Under-21 midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with preliminary discussions believed to have taken place between Arsenal and his representatives.
Another name under consideration is Blackburn Rovers prospect Igor Tyjon. Arsenal previously had a £1 million bid rejected during the winter transfer window, but they are expected to renew their interest when his scholarship deal ends.
Additional young talents being monitored include Brazilian attacking player Belinho, who currently plays in Croatia, and teenage midfielder Vasilije Kostov from Red Star Belgrade. Meanwhile, Real Madrid defender Victor Valdepenas is also viewed as a key target due to his versatility, as he can operate both at left-back and in central defense.
Despite these plans, Arsenal are also expected to focus heavily on player sales. Experts suggest improving an already strong squad will be challenging, and the club may need to offload players to maintain financial balance. After significant spending last summer, generating funds through transfers could become essential to staying within financial regulations.
Arsenal’s financial position will become clearer once their annual results are published. Increased commercial revenue may help support further investment, but the final summer budget will largely depend on two uncertain factors: the amount raised from player sales and earnings from competition prize money.
