Arsenal are reportedly keeping close tabs on Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon as they consider a potential move for the winger, according to reports from Football Insider.
Since completing his transfer from Everton to Newcastle United, the 25-year-old has grown into one of the most influential figures at St James’ Park. His development has been impressive, and he played a major role in helping Newcastle secure the EFL Cup title last season.
Gordon has continued his strong form this campaign. Across all competitions, the forward has delivered consistent attacking contributions, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 42 appearances. His performances have also helped guide Newcastle to the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League, where they reached the round of 16.
However, reports claim the winger may now be reconsidering his future at the club. Despite signing a long-term contract extension recently, it is believed Gordon is currently unsettled and could be open to leaving during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Newcastle’s situation in the Premier League could play a major role in determining his future. The Magpies are currently positioned in the lower half of the league table, and failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League may force the club to consider selling some of their top talents, including Gordon, to balance finances and reshape the squad.
Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring the situation and could make a serious move in the coming months. However, they are not the only team interested. Liverpool F.C. are also strongly linked with the player and were previously considered the frontrunners in the race for his signature.
Gordon’s personal ties could make Liverpool a particularly appealing destination. The winger is originally from Liverpool and supported the Reds during his childhood, even though he progressed through the youth ranks at Everton. Because of this connection, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may need to work hard to convince the player that a move to Arsenal F.C. would be the better choice.
According to estimates from Transfermarkt, Gordon is valued at around £52 million. With his contract running until 2030, Newcastle are unlikely to let him leave cheaply and would likely demand a significant transfer fee.
Although naturally a left winger, Gordon has shown versatility by occasionally operating as a centre-forward this season. His strong performances have also earned him a regular place in the England squad under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Arsenal currently rely on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left flank. While both players have shown flashes of quality, neither has consistently delivered top performances in recent seasons.
As a result, strengthening the left wing could be a priority for the North London club. If Arsenal manage to convince Gordon to join them this summer, it could prove to be a significant addition to their attacking options.
