BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid is prepared to propose a swap deal involving star forward Rodrygo for Arsenal’s William Saliba. Arsenal is said to be receptive to the idea but is seeking a player-plus-cash arrangement for Saliba’s transfer. Manager Mikel Arteta is a fan of Rodrygo and is willing to let Saliba go in exchange for the Brazilian forward.

Real Madrid is reportedly exploring a high-profile swap deal with Arsenal, where they would offer Brazilian forward Rodrygo in exchange for William Saliba. According to Football Transfers, Real Madrid is focused on strengthening their defense and sees Saliba, one of the top young center-backs, as a prime target. To sweeten the deal, they are prepared to let Rodrygo leave the club.

William Saliba has quickly established himself as one of the best center-backs in world football, forming a formidable defensive duo with Gabriel Magalhães at Arsenal. Having joined Arsenal in 2019 from Saint-Étienne, Saliba initially spent time on loan but made his debut for the Gunners in 2022. Since then, his defensive contributions have been pivotal in Arsenal’s pursuit of major titles over the past two seasons.

With 23 international appearances for France and 89 appearances for Arsenal, Saliba is widely considered one of Europe’s most promising young defenders. Although his contract with Arsenal runs until 2027, the club is reportedly working to extend his stay. However, Real Madrid is determined to bring him to La Liga and believes Rodrygo could be the key to convincing Arsenal to part with Saliba.

Rodrygo, who joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 for €45 million, has become an important figure in the Spanish side’s attack. With 56 goals and 43 assists in 224 matches, Rodrygo has helped the club win several trophies, including multiple Champions League titles. Despite his valuable contributions, Madrid appears willing to let him go to reinforce their defense with Saliba.

This potential swap deal would give Real Madrid a world-class defender, while Arsenal would receive a highly talented forward to boost their attacking options. Losing Saliba would be a big blow for Arsenal, but Rodrygo could inject a new attacking threat into their squad.

Additionally, both clubs are competing to sign 17-year-old Argentine sensation Franco Mastantuono. The River Plate star, who has made 29 senior appearances, has drawn attention from top European clubs with a release clause of €45 million. Both Real Madrid and Arsenal are keen to secure the services of this versatile and creative young player, adding another layer of intrigue to the transfer window.
