John Duran, a forward for Aston Villa, is reportedly keen on moving to Chelsea to compete with Nicolas Jackson, following interest from several Italian clubs.
The Colombian talent, who joined Aston Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023, has managed to score only five goals in 35 appearances.
Primarily utilized as a substitute for Ollie Watkins, Duran is looking for more consistent playing time and is eager to leave the team.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea has shown interest in acquiring Duran, and preliminary discussions have commenced.
Duran is reportedly open to the transfer, and Aston Villa is willing to let him go for a fee in the range of £35-40 million.
This development is unexpected for Chelsea fans, as the club initially targeted Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
However, due to Osimhen’s high salary demands and a £111 million release clause, he is no longer a feasible option for Chelsea.
The club is now looking for a more affordable prospect with potential and sees Duran as someone who could evolve into a top-tier striker.
