Arsenal’s pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ winger Pedro Neto has gained momentum following the news that Braga’s Rodrigo Gomes is set to join Wolves for £12.7 million.

Gomes, a highly regarded 20-year-old winger, is expected to undergo a medical at Wolves later this week and sign a long-term contract, committing to the club until 2029. Last season, Gomes scored seven goals in 30 league games while on loan at Estoril Praia.

Despite interest from Atletico Madrid, Wolves appear to have secured Gomes’ signature, as reported by the BBC.

This development has sparked the interest of Arsenal’s sporting director Edu Gaspar, who has been closely monitoring Pedro Neto.

Gomes’ potential arrival at Wolves could facilitate Neto’s exit, a scenario Edu is likely to find favorable.

Neto’s significant ankle injury in the 2022/23 season sidelined him for 127 days, and a knee injury in 2021 kept him out for almost a year.

Considering Wolves spent around £18 million to acquire him from Lazio in 2019 and his contract runs until 2027, they are unlikely to let him go for a low price.

Arsenal’s Arteta and Edu are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window, with several top-tier players linked to the club.

One of these targets is Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko, who scored 18 goals in 42 games for RB Leipzig last season. However, Arsenal will face competition from Chelsea, who are also keen on the 21-year-old.
