Bruno Fernandes has recently lauded his fellow Portuguese and national team colleague, Francisco Conceição, suggesting that the young talent would be a great addition to Manchester United.
Fernandes, who ended the previous season with impressive performances for Manchester United, started his preparations for the 2024 European Championship on a high note by scoring twice in a dynamic match against Finland on Tuesday.
Making a significant impact after being substituted in the second half alongside his club teammate Diogo Dalot, Fernandes scored a spectacular long-range goal, increasing Portugal’s lead to 3-0, and later added another goal with a composed finish.
After the match, the influential United captain took time to praise the 21-year-old right winger, Francisco Conceição, who was instrumental in assisting both of Fernandes’ goals.
“Francisco had an outstanding game; his dynamic play and relentless work ethic off the ball were truly remarkable,” Fernandes told Mais Futebol. “His ability to quickly react to turnovers and maintain excellent positioning is clear, reflecting the rigorous training from his father. We need players who bring diverse skills to the team, enhancing our overall strength.”
Fernandes’ mention of Conceição’s father, Sérgio Conceição, is significant as he is currently the manager at FC Porto, where Francisco has had an impressive season with 43 appearances, eight goals, and eight assists.
With a market value of nearly £13 million according to Transfermarkt, Conceição appears as a promising prospect for Manchester United.
Given the potential exits of Antony and Facundo Pellistri in the upcoming transfer window, securing a skilled right winger to compete with Amad Diallo becomes crucial for the club.
Conceição’s left-footed talent aligns well with Amad’s abilities, particularly in providing assists and scoring, which would complement players like Rasmus Højlund and Fernandes, who usually play centrally in the team’s tactical setup.
