Gyokeres enjoyed an outstanding 2023-2024 season, netting 43 goals and providing 15 assists in 50 matches across all competitions.

He emerged as the top scorer in the Primeira Liga with 29 goals, drawing significant interest from Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta views Gyokeres as a key addition to bolster their attacking options for a potential title run.

Initially, Arsenal had targeted RB Leipzig’s striker Benjamin Sesko, with the intention of triggering his £55 million release clause.

Sporting Lisbon aims to generate funds this summer and would prefer to sell other players, such as defenders Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio, who are also on Arsenal’s radar. Diomande is valued at £50 million, while Inacio’s release clause stands at £52 million.

Despite their firm interest in Gyokeres, Arsenal hopes Sporting Lisbon will show some flexibility in their financial demands to facilitate the transfer.
