BREAKING NEWS:According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is on the verge of signing Gyokeres, who scored 43 goals in 50 matches for Sporting in all competitions and finished

Arsenal is actively pursuing a forward this summer to strengthen their squad and compete more effectively with Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s team is looking for a reliable goal-scorer to enhance their attacking options. Initially, Arsenal showed interest in Benjamin Sesko, but the RB Leipzig forward chose to extend his contract, which ruled out any possibility of a transfer.

With Sesko out of the picture, Arsenal has now turned their attention to Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP. Scouts have been following Gyokeres’ progress in Portugal closely and have been quite impressed with his performance.

Gyokeres has netted 43 goals in 50 matches across all competitions for Sporting, making him the club’s top scorer. His contributions were crucial in helping Sporting secure both the league title and the cup. Additionally, he provided 15 assists, averaging a goal or assist every 72 minutes.

Given these impressive statistics, it is easy to understand why Arsenal is keen on acquiring Gyokeres this summer.

Reports indicate that negotiations between Arsenal, Sporting, and Gyokeres’ representatives are advancing well. According to Leonio, Arsenal is “very close” to finalizing the deal, with the primary remaining issue being the financial terms. Sporting is expected to demand a substantial transfer fee for Gyokeres.

Gyokeres joined Sporting last summer following an outstanding season with Coventry City, where he almost led the team to Premier League promotion.

He is currently under contract with Sporting until 2028, which suggests that Sporting will seek a considerable return on the €20 million they spent on Gyokeres last year.
