Omari Kellyman has elaborated on his decision to transfer from Aston Villa to Chelsea during the summer transfer window. At 18, Kellyman was considered a promising talent at Villa Park.
Chelsea had initially shown interest in him back in January and solidified their interest with a formal offer this month.
Originally valued at £20 million by Villa, Kellyman is set to sign a six-year contract with Chelsea, which includes an option to extend for an additional 12 months. This move signifies Chelsea’s commitment to securing the young attacker for the long term.
During the preseason, Kellyman is expected to train with Chelsea’s first team. However, there is a possibility that he might be loaned out next year to gain more senior experience and better prepare for future campaigns.
Kellyman explained his attraction to Chelsea, stating, “I have seen young players stepping into the team and playing week in, week out, in the Premier League, and I feel like I will be able to take my opportunity as and when it comes.
I want to be successful in the Chelsea shirt; to win games and hopefully trophies. Over time, I hope to become one of the faces on the side of the stadium. I want to become a big player for this club.”
His ambitions to win trophies and make a significant impact at Chelsea reflect his aspirations and determination to succeed at a higher level.
