Conor Gallagher, a 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder, has not yet made his debut for England at the ongoing European Championship.
Despite having made two substitute appearances, Gallagher is expected to start for England in their final group stage match against Slovenia.
England’s midfield has struggled, and Gallagher is likely to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in the lineup. Declan Rice, a regular in England’s midfield, has expressed enthusiasm about playing alongside Gallagher.
Rice said, “I’ve played against him when he was at Crystal Palace and Chelsea, and I’ve played with him in the academy team. He is a player I would love to have in my team.”
Rice continued, “He works his socks off. You feel so safe and secure in there with him. He has surprised so many people this year with his ability on the ball. How he breaks forward with it, how he gets into the box and scores goals.”
Rice’s comments highlight Gallagher’s work ethic, defensive reliability, and offensive capabilities, which have impressed many this season.
