The transfer season is now in full swing, and while Arsenal hasn’t sealed any deals yet, they are eyeing some significant transactions. Among their primary targets is a player who can penetrate the toughest defenses and add creativity to the team.
In recent weeks, Arsenal has been scouting promising attacking talents, with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze emerging as a standout candidate. Interestingly, Eze began his football journey as a schoolboy at Arsenal.
Eze is a versatile and creative playmaker, celebrated for his consistency, high work rate, and keen goal-scoring ability. Should he join Arsenal, he could become a key component of their attacking lineup, particularly as a left central midfielder (LCM), complementing Gabriel Martinelli.
Arsenal has been missing a player who can create opportunities for Martinelli akin to how Martin Ødegaard supports Bukayo Saka, and Eze seems to fit this role perfectly.
Arsenal’s interest in Eze is significant, given his reported £60 million release clause. Concurrently, Crystal Palace has shown interest in Emile Smith Rowe, with Arsenal valuing him at at least £40 million.
A potential swap deal involving Smith Rowe plus £20 million for Eze could benefit both clubs. This arrangement would bring the necessary creative spark to Arsenal’s midfield while providing Crystal Palace with a talented young player in Smith Rowe.
Fulham and Crystal Palace have contacted Arsenal regarding the availability of Emile Smith Rowe. Arsenal is seeking more than £40 million for him, which could pose a challenge.
Currently with Gareth Southgate’s England squad at Euro 2024, Eze is undoubtedly a top talent. Unlike Chelsea, who appear uncertain about their interest in him, Arsenal is actively pursuing Eze. Reports suggest that Arsenal might also offload players like Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson to accommodate Eze.
One of Eze’s key strengths is his versatility. He can play as a winger or a number ten, making him an ideal fit for Arsenal.
His ability to operate on the left-hand side of the front three provides an alternative to Gabriel Martinelli. Additionally, his potential to relieve Martin Ødegaard from being the primary creator in the advanced playmaker role adds another dimension to Arsenal’s attack.
Eberechi Eze is emerging as a significant target for Arsenal this transfer season. He could be an excellent addition to the squad, especially since he recently admitted that it was his “dream” to play for Arsenal.
