Reports indicate that Arsenal have reached out to Eberechi Eze’s agent regarding a potential transfer from Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Eze, a highly sought-after player since the transfer window opened, has yet to decide his next destination at 26 years old.
Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal’s local rivals, have shown significant interest and expressed their willingness to meet Crystal Palace’s £60 million asking price for Eze.
Football Transfers reports that Arsenal is eager to outmaneuver Tottenham and secure Eze’s signature. The club has already initiated contact with the England international to negotiate a possible deal.
Eze’s primary concern in choosing his next club is the assurance of regular first-team football. If he cannot secure such guarantees, he may opt to remain at Crystal Palace.
Integrating Eze into Arsenal’s attack raises questions. The team boasts a wealth of attacking talent, including Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz, among others.
This abundance of options makes it challenging for Mikel Arteta to guarantee Eze a starting position each week. Consequently, Arsenal might face difficulties in signing him, especially compared to Tottenham, which has fewer players competing for forward positions. However, Arsenal’s ability to offer Champions League football, unlike Tottenham, could be a significant advantage.
Interest in Eze extends beyond North London. Liverpool has also shown keen interest, particularly after their bid for Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon was rejected last week.
Premier League champions Manchester City are monitoring Eze’s situation as well. However, a move to the Etihad seems less probable due to the high competition for places in City’s squad, making regular first-team football uncertain for Eze.
Additionally, Aston Villa and West Ham, with their own ambitions, might enter the race for Eze. Nonetheless, these clubs could be seen as less attractive options for the player.
