Ederson, the current goalkeeper for Manchester City, has reportedly agreed to personal terms with one of Saudi Arabia’s top football clubs following the offer of an impressive two-year contract.
At 30 years old, the Brazilian international joined Manchester City from Benfica in 2017 for around £35 million. Since then, he has played nearly 300 matches for the Premier League champions.
During his time at City, Ederson has secured six league titles, two FA Cups, and a Champions League title under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, whom he recently lauded as the best coach in football.
“Pep is like a GPS,” Ederson remarked. “You input the address, and it presents you with options, including the best route. You just follow, follow, follow.
“Pep is the greatest ever, and I think he breathes football 24/7. It’s unbelievable.”
After seven successful seasons in Manchester, it seems the Brazilian goalkeeper might leave England this summer.
According to journalist Gianluigi Longari, Ederson has agreed to personal terms with Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr, and negotiations with Manchester City will commence shortly.
Al Nassr, seeking a new goalkeeper after their first-choice shot-stopper David Ospina’s contract ended, is ready to invest significantly to secure Ederson.
Cesar Luis Merlo reports that Al Nassr has proposed a €60 million (£51 million) deal for Ederson over two years, translating to about £490,000 per week.
Last summer, Al Nassr made several high-profile signings, including Otavio, Sadio Mane, Aymeric Laporte, Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles.
However, Mane might depart this summer, as reported by the Daily Mail. Al Nassr is open to offers for the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich player.
In response, they are contemplating a move for Aston Villa’s Moussa Diaby as a potential replacement. Diaby was previously linked with a move to Saudi Arabia before joining the Premier League for £51.9 million.
