BREAKING NEWS: Manchester City plans to trade two key players to Newcastle for Brazilian star Guimaraes, with De Bruyne set to leave.

Manchester City remains keen on acquiring Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes and is prepared to loan out one of two players to St James’ Park as part of the deal. Despite Guimaraes being closely linked to a move away from Newcastle, the club has steadfastly held onto their £100 million valuation of the Brazilian international.

As a key figure in Eddie Howe’s squad, Guimaraes was instrumental in Newcastle’s remarkable 2022/23 season, where they secured a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.

However, failing to build on that success last season and missing out on European qualification has sparked further speculation about his future.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly a strong admirer of Guimaraes, but Manchester City is exploring ways to lower his price, as they are not willing to meet the £100 million asking price.

The potential departure of Kevin de Bruyne, who has agreed to personal terms with Al-Ittihad, adds urgency to City’s pursuit of Guimaraes as a possible replacement.

Replacing De Bruyne, given his impressive contributions over the years, is a daunting task. As per sources, City is willing to loan out Rico Lewis or Oscar Bobb to Newcastle to sweeten the deal.

They are also open to negotiating a fee around £80 million for Guimaraes, which would still represent a significant profit for Newcastle, considering they signed him for a lower amount in January 2022.

Since joining Newcastle, Guimaraes has made 107 appearances and provided 16 assists, highlighting his importance to the team. His departure would leave a substantial gap in the squad.

Lewis, having previously shown his quality as a versatile player who can operate as a defensive midfielder or right-back, could be a valuable addition to Newcastle.

Similarly, Bobb, a promising prospect, has already featured 26 times for City last season and made an impact against Newcastle at St James’ Park. For Guimaraes, the prospect of an £80 million offer plus a potential loan of either Lewis or Bobb could be tempting for Newcastle.

Despite Manchester City’s interest, Newcastle is extremely reluctant to entertain any bids for the Brazilian midfielder, emphasizing his importance to their squad.

However, the ongoing negotiations indicate that City’s pursuit of Guimaraes is far from over, as they look to bolster their midfield options in light of potential departures.
