BREAKING NEWS: Manchester United has made a “surprise” approach to sign the winner of the Euro 2024 competition, beating out Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Chelsea in the process.

Dani Olmo, the 26-year-old RB Leipzig midfielder, emerged as one of the standout players in the recent European Championship. He played in six out of seven games for Spain as Luis de la Fuente’s team clinched their fourth European Championship title, setting a record.

Olmo’s impressive performance has drawn interest from several top European clubs. Teams like Barcelona, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich are reportedly considering making a move for him this summer.

Manchester United is also keen on acquiring Olmo, with Spanish newspaper AS reporting that the club has taken significant steps to secure his signature.

In addition to targeting Olmo, Manchester United has already added French defender Leny Yoro and Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee to their squad this summer. These additions are part of the club’s strategy to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s team ahead of the upcoming season.

Barcelona is considered Manchester United’s main competitor for Olmo’s signature. However, the Spanish giants are currently more focused on signing Nico Williams, Olmo’s Spain teammate, who scored in the Euro 2024 final against England.

Olmo’s contract with RB Leipzig includes a release clause of €60 million (£52 million), which can only be activated before July 20. Since joining Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in 2020, Olmo has made 148 appearances and helped the team win two domestic trophies.

Addressing the transfer speculation towards the end of Euro 2024, Olmo made it clear that any club interested in signing him would need to meet his release clause. “My people know what I want to do… I have too much to do with the Euros to be thinking about other things,” he said before the final in Berlin.

He added, “I have a contract with Leipzig and we have a very good relationship. There will be no problem. My €60 million clause until July 20? You know what you have to do. If not, you’ll have to fight a little later.”

Manchester United recently confirmed the signing of Lille defender Yoro, their second addition after Zirkzee. Yoro expressed his excitement about joining the club, saying, “Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honor.

Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project and showed a lot of care for me and my family. I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new teammates. I cannot wait to get started.”
