While Arsenal has frequently been associated with Victor Osimhen, the most recent updates indicate that Chelsea is actively pursuing a deal. According to Caughtoffside, Chelsea is planning to initiate discussions with Napoli regarding a potential transfer in the coming days.
Enzo Maresca, the manager of Chelsea, is keen on securing a new striker this summer, with Osimhen being the most expensive and potentially most impactful target available.
Osimhen is viewed as a generational talent who could become Chelsea’s primary striker for years to come. This prospect might motivate Chelsea to push for a deal, as long as they can manage it within their Profit and Sustainability guidelines.
Current reports indicate that Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen has been reduced from £126.8 million to £84.5 million, making the transfer more feasible.
Regarding his future, Osimhen commented back in January about the ongoing rumors linking him to the Premier League. He acknowledged the speculation, attributing it to his status as one of the world’s top strikers, and recognized the Premier League as one of the most prestigious leagues globally.
Osimhen stated, “I’m with Napoli, I signed a new contract. I’m enjoying my time there. I think I’ve already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do in my career. Since I’ve started, I’ve been the one making my own decisions and everything is working out well for me.
I already know the next step I want to take, so for now I just want to finish the season strong. I will [then] go relax somewhere with my daughter, think about my life and then finally come out with a decision that I’ve already made.”
Antonio Conte, the newly appointed Napoli manager, has also spoken about Osimhen’s future. He praised Osimhen as a professional and top-tier player, emphasizing that Osimhen is still committed to Napoli. Conte mentioned that he had spoken with Osimhen, who understands that nothing has changed regarding his status with Napoli.
Conte highlighted the importance of hard work and maintaining the right attitude, regardless of the ongoing transfer speculations. For now, Conte’s focus is on the player’s current commitment and training with the team.
