“Internal Conflict at Chelsea: Enzo Fernandez Faces Backlash Over Racist Chanting Incident During Copa America Celebrations”
Enzo Fernandez, following a controversial live Instagram video where he and his Argentina teammates participated in a racist chant, has faced significant backlash from within Chelsea.
Ten of his teammates—Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku, Malang Sarr, Benoit Badiashile, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, and David Datro Fofana—have unfollowed him on Instagram in response to the incident.
Wesley Fofana publicly condemned the video, labeling it as “uninhibited racism.” Chelsea Football Club has already initiated an investigation into the matter to address the controversy and determine appropriate actions.
In addition to the club’s internal actions, the French Football Federation announced their intent to pursue legal action against the Argentinian Football Association, underscoring the severity and international ramifications of the incident.
The fallout from the video has not only strained relationships within the Chelsea squad but has also sparked broader legal and ethical discussions within the football community.
