According to Football Insider, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has been urging his England teammate Ollie Watkins to leave Aston Villa and join Chelsea this summer.
Palmer and Watkins spent the last month in Germany, playing for England in Euro 2024. During this period, they developed a strong friendship and showcased impressive chemistry on the field.
Palmer has been highlighting the potential benefits of their partnership at Chelsea, believing it could boost the team’s performance next season. Chelsea, seeking a top-tier striker, has identified Watkins as a prime target.
The six-time Premier League champions are preparing a substantial offer to bring Watkins to Stamford Bridge, potentially including midfielder Conor Gallagher in the deal, as Aston Villa has shown interest in him.
Both Palmer and Watkins played key roles for England during Euro 2024, primarily as substitutes.
Palmer assisted Watkins’ crucial late goal in the semi-final, and both received praise for their performances.
Palmer also scored in the final against Spain, although England did not win the title.
In the Premier League last season, Watkins was the fourth-highest scorer with 19 goals, while Palmer had an impressive debut season with Chelsea, scoring 22 goals. Their performances have fueled speculation about the impact they could have together at Chelsea.
