BREAKING NEWS:Manchester United have officially announced the signing of a £70 million superstar. They secured a verbal agreement ahead of Chelsea last night, finalizing a six-year contract. The player underwent a medical this morning, with thousands of fans gathering at Old Trafford to witness United’s major summer acquisition.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in more than just Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich this summer. While the Dutch defender remains a top target, United have now also shown interest in Noussair Mazraoui.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, both Manchester United and West Ham United are considering a move for the Bayern right-back, who is open to joining the Premier League and has been given the green light to leave Bayern.

Plettenberg suggests that a transfer fee between €15-20 million could be enough to secure Mazraoui’s services. The Moroccan international, who joined Bayern in 2022, has not had the impactful career he might have hoped for, similar to several other players at the club in recent seasons.

However, Mazraoui is known for his versatility, being able to play on both the right and left sides of the pitch, and often filling in at left-back for his national team due to Achraf Hakimi’s presence.

The Mirror has reported that Bayern Munich values Mazraoui at around £25 million, while Manchester United are looking to negotiate the price down to around £18 million. West Ham, on the other hand, are unwilling to exceed £15 million.

The report also notes that Manchester United’s move for the 26-year-old might depend on the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has been a divisive figure at Old Trafford and could leave the club this summer.

Mazraoui has a history with United manager Erik ten Hag, having played under him at Ajax, where he rose through the youth ranks and made a significant impact.

While there’s nothing inherently wrong with a coach bringing in players he has previously worked with and trusts, there is concern about an over-reliance on such signings. Ten Hag’s track record with these kinds of acquisitions has been mixed.

Mazraoui would provide an upgrade in terms of attacking ability compared to Wan-Bissaka, but questions remain about whether he can be defensively solid in the Premier League. Despite this, the proposed transfer fee makes him an attractive option, and it remains to be seen how this potential deal will unfold.
