BREAKING NEWS:On Saturday morning, Manchester United finalized the £60 million signing of a top talent from South America. The player is set to wear an iconic jersey number, with the medical team prepared to welcome him as Manchester United’s third summer signing.

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to Fabrizio Romano. The English club has already secured the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro this summer and is now focusing on acquiring Ugarte from PSG.

Romano states that Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with the South American player, and the two clubs are currently negotiating the transfer fee. An additional report from L’Equipe (via SportWitness) suggests that PSG is unwilling to sell Ugarte for a loss, having purchased him from Sporting for £50 million.

Consequently, PSG is demanding approximately £59 million for Ugarte. Manchester United, however, are hesitant to invest that amount and might propose a loan deal with an option to buy.

Manchester United had an underwhelming 2023/24 Premier League season, finishing 8th in the standings. They managed to salvage some pride by winning the FA Cup. Despite this success, the club’s leadership recognizes the need for squad enhancements to compete at the highest level again.

Having already strengthened their center-forward and central defensive positions, the club’s next priority appears to be the holding midfield role. Last season, the options included Casemiro, Scott McTominay, and Sofyan Amrabat (on loan), but none provided consistent performances.

Ugarte is seen as a significant upgrade. He is adept with the ball and exhibits a remarkable work rate off the ball. Like Casemiro, Ugarte is not afraid to tackle and boasts a higher success rate in challenges. At 23 years old, he has the potential to adapt and grow at Manchester United.

Despite Ugarte’s potential, Manchester United seems reluctant to meet PSG’s £59 million asking price, especially after their substantial expenditures on Zirkzee and Yoro. A loan deal would be ideal for assessing Ugarte’s compatibility with the Premier League.

However, PSG may insist on an obligatory buy clause since they are on the verge of signing his replacement, Joao Neves, from Benfica.
