BREAKING NEWS:Phil Foden revealed that he attempted to persuade the player to join Manchester City, but the player was determined to go to Manchester United. Foden suggested that perhaps the player is not focused on winning major titles.

Sergio Reguilon was once highly regarded, having been seen as a player capable of replacing the legendary Brazilian Marcelo in Real Madrid’s starting lineup.

His move to Tottenham Hotspur was widely celebrated as the club secured one of Spain’s brightest young talents. Despite this promising start, Reguilon’s time at Tottenham has been challenging.

While he remains an excellent attacking player with underrated assist capabilities, his defensive performances in the Premier League have been less convincing.

The situation was not helped by the defensive styles of managers like Nuno Espirito Santo, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte, under whom he played.

There was hope that under new manager Ange Postecoglou, Reguilon might find a fresh start. However, the emergence of Destiny Udogie saw Reguilon lose his place in the starting lineup.

Last season, Reguilon was loaned out twice, first to Manchester United and then to Brentford. At Brentford, he showed top-class form, yet he hasn’t secured a permanent move or regained a place at Spurs.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Reguilon enjoyed his time at Manchester United and would be open to returning. Reports earlier suggested that United might be interested in signing him for around £10 million, a fee Tottenham would accept.

Despite United having Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in their squad, injuries last season saw manager Erik ten Hag use players like Victor Lindelof and Sofyan Amrabat as makeshift left-backs. Reguilon could provide valuable cover in such situations and allow Shaw to be deployed in central defense if needed.

For £10 million, Reguilon could be a valuable addition to Manchester United, especially if he can recapture the form he showed at Real Madrid. It remains to be seen if a deal can be struck this summer.
