Arsenal are expressing interest in Fabian Ruiz, with PSG potentially open to considering offers, as Mikel Arteta intensifies his search for a new midfielder. According to Caught Offside, Ruiz has been added to Arsenal’s list of possible recruits.
Arteta is keen on acquiring a left-sided midfielder, with Ruiz emerging as a key target. PSG might be willing to entertain offers for Ruiz, who shone for Spain during their successful Euro 2024 campaign.
However, PSG manager Luis Enrique did not see him as a central figure last season, limiting Ruiz to just 21 league appearances. With PSG pursuing Joao Neves, they may be open to offloading Ruiz.
Ruiz, 28, may be interested in a new challenge, and his technical skills align well with Arteta’s vision for Arsenal’s midfield.
The Gunners are reportedly considering a loan deal with an option to buy, though PSG might set a price of around €45 million for the former Napoli player. Despite the genuine interest in Ruiz, he is not Arteta’s primary target.
Mikel Merino of Real Sociedad is the main candidate for the midfield position, offering qualities that Arteta prioritizes. Arsenal plans to approach Real Sociedad with an offer once they finalize personal terms with Merino.
Should negotiations for Merino fail, Ruiz could become the top target, as Arteta looks to strengthen the team’s midfield.
The addition of either Ruiz or Merino would likely enhance Arsenal’s midfield, providing a strong foundation for the development of promising young players.
As Arteta continues to refine his squad, the pursuit of these Spanish talents indicates a clear strategy to reinforce the midfield with players who can add depth and quality to the team.
