CONFIRMED DONE DEAL:According to reports in the Spanish media, Manchester United have agreed to sign Miguel Gutierrez, who currently plays for Girona, for a reported fee of £30 million. The youngster will sign a five-year contract with United in the coming days as a replacement for injury-prone Luke Shaw.

Reports from Spanish media indicate that Manchester United have finalized a deal to sign Miguel Gutierrez from Girona. The 22-year-old defender was previously part of the Real Madrid squad that won both La Liga and the Champions League two years ago.

However, Gutierrez has made a significant impact at Girona, particularly in the past two seasons under the management of Michel.

Gutierrez is currently contracted with Girona until 2027, earning a modest salary of about £280,000 per year. Importantly, Real Madrid holds a buy-back option for Gutierrez this summer, priced at just 8 million euros, as reported by Cadena Ser.

The Express has disclosed that Real Madrid intends to activate this clause and has already negotiated a deal to sell Gutierrez to Manchester United for £34 million. Manchester United are in need of a replacement for Luke Shaw.

In the previous season, Gutierrez showcased his talents both defensively and offensively. He started in 35 league games, scored 2 goals, provided 7 assists, and contributed to Girona achieving 12 clean sheets, which helped them qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Luke Shaw, despite his commitment to Manchester United, has faced frequent injuries over the years.

Last season, under the management of Erik ten Hag, Shaw was limited to just 12 Premier League starts due to muscle issues.

Due to Shaw’s injury history, Manchester United are eager to secure a dependable replacement, and Gutierrez appears to be an ideal candidate. However, by joining Manchester United, Gutierrez will have to sacrifice playing in the Champions League next season.
