BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal has finalized the signing of a £70 million forward after the board approved the funds for the transfer last night. The medical examination is scheduled for today.

Arsenal might consider disrupting Liverpool’s pursuit of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi this summer, according to journalist David Lynch.

The Gunners are eager to bolster their midfield during the current transfer window and have been linked with various players.

Earlier in the transfer window, Arsenal was associated with several potential targets, including Douglas Luiz, Amadou Onana, and Bruno Guimaraes. While Guimaraes ended up joining Juventus and Onana moved to Aston Villa, Zubimendi also caught Arsenal’s attention.

However, it seemed that Arsenal shifted their focus to Zubimendi’s teammate Mikel Merino, with whom they have reportedly agreed on personal terms and are currently in negotiations with Real Sociedad.

At the same time, Liverpool has expressed interest in signing Zubimendi to strengthen their midfield.

Lynch mentioned on his YouTube channel that other clubs could potentially interfere with Liverpool’s plans, and Arsenal might be one of those clubs if they choose to rekindle their interest in Zubimendi. However, he also pointed out that Arsenal appears to be focusing on other midfield options for the time being.

Lynch explained: “Now that this news is out there, there’s always a possibility that other clubs could come in and compete for his signature. Whether that’s Arsenal maybe reigniting their interest, although it seems that they’ve got other midfield targets.”

Zubimendi has a £51 million release clause in his contract, meaning Arsenal would need to pay a significant fee to secure the Spanish international. Whether Arsenal will decide to make a formal move for Zubimendi before the transfer window closes remains uncertain.
