This possibility has been suggested by Ronaldo’s former teammate, Louis Saha. Saha, who played alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford for four years, believes he understands why Ronaldo might return to the club, though not in the same role as before.
In an interview with TVSporten, Saha expressed his belief that Ronaldo’s passion for football could bring him back to Manchester United, not as a player, but potentially as a coach or even a manager. Saha emphasized Ronaldo’s deep connection with the club and his love for the game, suggesting that these factors might motivate him to return and share his wealth of experience with the next generation of players.
Reflecting on Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United, Saha acknowledged that it did not end as positively as many had hoped. Ronaldo’s frustration was clear, particularly due to the lack of the same winning mentality and passion among the younger players that once defined the club’s culture. Saha noted that this frustration might have arisen from the stark difference between Ronaldo’s intense passion for the game and what he perceived as a lack of it in others around him.
Despite this, Saha is confident that Ronaldo could adapt to a coaching or managerial role if he were to return. Known for his intensity and directness, Ronaldo might adjust his communication style to be more effective in such a position.
Saha drew comparisons to other former players who transitioned into management, such as Roy Keane, and suggested that Ronaldo could also find success in this new chapter of his career. With his extensive knowledge of football, Saha sees no reason why Ronaldo wouldn’t excel as a coach or manager.
Interestingly, Ronaldo has previously indicated a lack of interest in a coaching career. In a 2019 interview with DAZN Italy while playing for Juventus, he expressed little desire to become a coach but left the possibility open by saying, “Never say never.” At the time, he stated that coaching was not something he was considering, though he acknowledged that things could change if he ever sought a new challenge.
