BREAKING NEWS: Erik Ten Hag has landed his own Erling Haaland with the signing of a £60m superstar. The player will be on hand to watch the Fulham game tomorrow, as the deal is already completed.

Manchester United are not finished in the transfer market despite already securing four new players: Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. The club’s management, led by Dan Ashworth, is keen on signing a midfielder who can either replace or provide support to Casemiro before the transfer window closes.

In addition to their midfield search, United are also exploring the possibility of adding another striker to their roster. According to The Independent, the club might make a strategic move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney after his valuation dropped from £100 million to around £60 million.

The Red Devils could propose a loan deal with an obligation to buy, which would allow them to secure Toney’s services without immediately committing to the full transfer fee.

This tactic would enable United to manage their finances more effectively, given the significant spending they have already done this summer, while still addressing their need for another forward.

Reports suggest that Toney is open to joining Manchester United if they make an offer. Despite already having strikers Hojlund and Zirkzee, the club remains interested in the 28-year-old Englishman.

In hindsight, some might argue that United could have been more patient before signing Zirkzee, especially with Hojlund already in the squad. A more experienced striker like Toney might have been a better fit.

Should United proceed with signing Toney, they risk overcrowding the striker position. However, Zirkzee’s versatility could alleviate this issue, as he can play in a slightly withdrawn role behind Hojlund or Toney if necessary.

While £60 million is still a substantial amount to pay for a player whose contract expires in less than a year, United must carefully consider whether it is worth the investment, given that Toney will be a free agent next summer. The situation remains fluid, and it will be interesting to see how it develops in the coming days as the transfer window draws to a close.
