Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, has recently addressed the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding his future, as he has garnered interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.
The 27-year-old returned to playing after serving a suspension for breaching betting regulations, which kept him out for much of the 2023/24 season. There was significant speculation about his potential departure from Brentford during the January transfer window.
Since his return, Toney has been in excellent form, scoring three goals in four matches. His contract with Brentford is nearing its final year, prompting discussions about his future. Brentford’s manager, Thomas Frank, hinted earlier in the week that the club might consider selling Toney at the end of the season.
After scoring in a recent victory over Wolves, Toney responded humorously to Frank’s remarks, suggesting that the manager’s comments implied Brentford might be ready to part ways with him.
He stated, “I see that [Frank’s comments] as he doesn’t want me! The manager has said what he’s said but I can’t make clubs come and get me. I’ve just got to keep doing what I do and that’s score goals. What will be will be.”
With Arsenal potentially interested in acquiring Toney in the upcoming summer transfer window, they could face competition from other Premier League clubs like Chelsea. Brentford is reportedly open to selling Toney if an offer around £100 million is made, setting the stage for a possible transfer battle.
The financial constraints imposed by Financial Fair Play regulations have made it challenging for clubs to make significant moves in recent windows, but Toney’s impressive performances might push interested clubs to make a serious bid.
