Manchester United is closing in on their third significant signing of the summer, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, the player he will replace, has verbally agreed to personal terms with West Ham.
Manchester United has already acquired Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee during this transfer window. However, Yoro has sustained a broken metatarsal and will be out of action for two to three months.
Zirkzee will be more involved in the upcoming matches as striker Rasmus Hojlund is sidelined for around six weeks due to a hamstring injury.
The club aims to add at least three more new players to their squad, but they must first sell current players to make room. One such player is right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The 26-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, and Manchester United is open to selling him.
A potential swap deal involving Wan-Bissaka and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries was considered, but Dumfries is now expected to sign a four-year extension with Inter Milan. Consequently, a transfer within the Premier League seems more likely for Wan-Bissaka, with West Ham emerging as his probable destination.
According to Sky Germany, Wan-Bissaka and West Ham have verbally agreed on personal terms for a five-year contract lasting until 2029. This agreement is a crucial first step toward finalizing the transfer, and negotiations regarding the transfer fee are ongoing.
Manchester United values Wan-Bissaka between £15m and £18m, while West Ham initially offered £10m, which was rejected. Nonetheless, both clubs are expected to reach an agreement.
Assuming Wan-Bissaka moves to West Ham, Manchester United has already identified his replacement: Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. Manchester United has agreed to a five-year contract with Mazraoui, which includes an option for an additional season.
Reports indicate that Manchester United and Bayern Munich have agreed on a transfer fee, likely around £20m with add-ons. Mazraoui’s move is pending Wan-Bissaka’s transfer, and his inclusion in Bayern’s pre-season tour does not suggest he will stay with the German club.
In other transfer news, Manchester United has rejected a £20m bid from Fulham for Scott McTominay, valuing him at £30m.
Meanwhile, West Ham is planning a significant transfer move, including Wan-Bissaka and a £25m deal (plus add-ons) for Leeds United’s winger, Crysencio Summerville, with personal terms already agreed with the Dutchman.
