BREAKING NEWS:Michael Owen, a Manchester United legend, stated that signing Leny Yoro and Zirkzee won’t address the team’s issues since these players are prone to injuries. He emphasized that what the team truly needs is a stronger defensive midfielder who can compete with Casemiro for a starting spot, highlighting the only transfer he wants before the window closes.

United, eager to improve after their eighth-place finish last season, have invested nearly £100m this summer, acquiring Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee for Old Trafford.

Yoro, an 18-year-old talent, was signed for £52m from Lille, with United outbidding Liverpool and Real Madrid. Although high expectations surround the Frenchman, a pre-season injury will likely keep him out until November, sidelining him for up to three months.

Zirkzee was brought in from Bologna for £36.5m and is anticipated to be a significant player for Manchester United, according to former England striker Owen. Despite this, Owen asserts that United must further strengthen their squad by signing another striker before the transfer deadline.

“Joshua Zirkzee could be an important player for Manchester United, but it will be really interesting at the start of the new season to see if they are going to adapt to a certain style of play,” Owen told Casino Hawks.

Although Zirkzee might not be prolific in terms of goals, Manchester United needed reinforcements in that position. Historically, United’s best teams featured multiple top strikers, which is something they have lacked in recent years.

Owen emphasizes the importance of having a reliable goal scorer, reminiscing about past legends like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie, and Wayne Rooney. He notes that while Zirkzee’s potential is promising, the club must remain patient and observe his adaptation and performance.

“At the moment, you can only look at what Zirkzee has done so far and watch this space with him. It isn’t just about having another quality player up front, but I think it will be a positive move for Manchester United,” Owen continued.

He also points out that the current squad’s injuries limit the manager’s ability to change tactics. Another capable striker would provide much-needed flexibility and options, especially when the team struggles.

“So another body is great, but even though it’s an exciting signing, we need to hold fire and see how he settles in,” Owen concluded, stressing the importance of patience and observation regarding Zirkzee’s impact on the team.
